New York Bagel & Deli III

My grandfather came to New York in 1923 from Sicily. He settled in Brooklyn, where he started “Red’s Bakery”. The bakery had the old style coal ovens for baking bread. My father grew up there working with his dad from 1930’s until he decided to strike out on his own in the late 1960’s. He moved our family north to Rockland County, New York. There he opened his own bakery, which I grew up in alongside my three older brothers. Since I was ten years old, I accompanied my brother to work on Fridays and Saturdays when I didn’t have school. Soon my older brothers opened up their own bakery and when I finished high school I worked there full time and continued learning the trade. Baking has been a life long experience for me and it’s what I love to do. There is over eighty years of baking experience in my family, where we learned to make all of our baked goods from scratch. We use the finest ingredients to make the best possible products. In 2003 I moved my family to North Carolina. In 2005 I opened my own Bagel/ Bakery/Deli called NYBD ( New York Bagel and Deli ) located in Cary North Carolina. NYBD has been voted the best of the best for the past 13 years!
